Stoke Poges Country Park
Works in the Park-Progress Update
Stoke Poges Country Park is under development and is currently expected to open autumn 2026.
The site is separated into two distinct areas (Heras fence is erected and a compound encloses the building site works). The building company started strip out works within the building (which will become the café) on 13 July 2026 and these strip out works are now completed.
Park landscaping works are ongoing, with crushing and footpath stoning up continuing. This is in a separate area and a traffic management control is in place using banksmen (trained persons who direct movement of vehicles/equipment). This has allowed the contractor to remain on site to screen and crush stone to use for the pathways.
The pond has been re-excavated on the site of the old one which had become silted up.
Extensive rolling of the site is being undertaken to ensure there is a smooth maintainable grassed surface.
The ground modelling is continuing and the finishing off of the footpath will be completed once the crushing of the stone has been completed.
Four Week Look Ahead
Pathways and rolling continue in the country park area.
Foundations for the toilet block will be completed.
Key access service areas (manhole covers) to be levelled.
Services trenches will be excavated and services installed and then connected.
Internal first fix weeks and external painting of the building including shutters.
Given the prolonged dry conditions and the limited planting window available earlier this year, further planting and seeding will not take place until conditions are more suitable. The immediate focus remains on delivering the core infrastructure, including the perimeter pathway. Residents should be aware that, as this is an entirely newly created landscape, it will take some time to establish and mature, and the site will evolve progressively over the coming years as planting becomes established.

About the park
Built on the site of the former Lanes Golf Academy, the new 59-acre country park will feature a café, play area, walks and trails with a hill viewpoint across the surrounding landscape across to Windsor Castle.
Final planting, seeding and path construction will be complete by summer 2026. Over the summer months, the refurbishment of the on-site building into a café will take place, plus a new play area will be supplied and installed by Haggs Play.
This site will be a major asset for families, dog walkers, nature lovers and residents across South Buckinghamshire and the surrounding towns
