Sakura Cherry trees in Black Park Country Park

Dawn Morland, 01 April 2026 - Season's highlights

In 2021, Sakura Cherry Trees were planted in Black Park Country Park, with the help of our practical conservation volunteers, as part of the Sakura Cherry Tree Project.

Five years on, with the start of spring, our Sakura Cherry Trees are now displaying beautiful cherry blossoms.

Sakura Cherry Tree Project was launched in 2017 to mark 150 years of Japan-UK friendship. The Sakura Cherry was chosen as it is the national flower of Japan. You can find out more information about the project here SAKURA CHERRY TREE PROJECT | Celebrating a new era of UK-Japan friendship and cooperation
